Welcome. I’m new at this whole blog thing as of this October 2009. What you are about to read contains mostly random thoughts and writings, fiction, poetry and commentary on what it is to be a Millennial in the 21st Century.

I am a young woman who only hopes to keep exploring, keep learning and documenting as I go. Being able to share this with you is truly a pleasure.

Thank you for visiting and I hope you enjoy what you find here.

Hearing the rain come down outside the window, I pretend I can see inside the droplets. They cling 40 stories in the air, reflecting the world outside and holding the weight of it all in a tiny sphere. Pausing in their fall from the sky, some of them took a moment before falling downward into nothing.

For some reason I think I feel safe. Wrapping his arms around me and sighing, the comforter stirred. Earrings, Cheekbone v1

My eyes bore a hole through the windows into the rain.

Whatever happened to bring this piece of time to where it is makes no sense. I shudder, realizing where I am. Looking around the unlit hotel suite, I almost chuckle: opulence to captivity.

Who is this man sleeping and wrapping his arms around me? Back again and with the same questions: What gave me the right to live in these castles in the sky, where only the powerful people enjoy life?

The world outside is angry. I want one of the drops to take me along for the fall. Imagine being smashed to smithereens on the sidewalk below. I close my eyes and suck in the darkness, smelling hotel sheets and heat. The only thing that seems real is the rain. No one cares that I am afraid.

It begins hitting like a ton of bricks. A drop of water becomes a tsunami. No one notices. Holding my breath to the sound of rain, that pain inside simmers to a boil.

The body next to mine may be warm. The cloudburst held against windows. Outside, this little glass world towers above a frenetic city. The sound of rain may be soft, the taxi cabs and other noise shut out, but the sound of his breathing, deafens.

Why am I still hearing the drone of an anchor’s voice, the weight of the world on my heart? Cold.

The world outside is angry. The world inside me, ice cold.

I imagine all this held in a single raindrop. It almost helps.

I know I am not safe.

  1. Thank you. Letting me know how pathetic this blog appears to others, explaining why and how it manifests the personality of a most indecorous creature, takes balls. My most sincere apologies for the time you wasted looking for at least one interesting, “attention-grabbing,” observation. You must be right: I’m an attention seeking bromide who refuses to get off her ass and do something about all the various points I whine about.

You generously took the time and effort from your day to write this comment. Forgive my short-comings as I write this response, confessing in full to all of the vile traits and timeless hubris we human beings are subject to. I am most ashamed to admit that you are correct. For what is a blog but a person’s own narcissism taking shape for others to see?

Oh, I am, like so many others, made of such metal, of disingenuous nature, consequently revealing what ignorance offends the very concept of humanity. Like a beam of sunlight thru a prism, each of us stretch and fragment across a spectrum of color, to create rainbows fluttering on digital walls. Ephemeral, devoid of meaning, and leaving nothing behind while our betters, like you, still struggle to find color at all.

  2. It’s here for folks to peruse and I’m glad you found some things of interest. Whether people agree with what I write or whether they disagree, as long as we keep talking and thinking about our world, sharing our observations, I’m a happy Gidget 🙂

  3. With thanks for this particular very good content; this is the type of consideration that preserves me though out the day. We’ve always heard been looking around for your personal web-site right after I observed about them from a pal and was pleased when I was able to unearth it immediately after researching for a while. Being a enthusiastic blogger, I’m pleased to view other folks taking move and adding to to your community. I just needed to comment to exhibit my thanks for ones post as it is incredibly stimulating, and many authors tend not to get the credit score they deserve. I am confident I’ll be again and will deliver a number of my associates.

    • Wow! Thank you for this generous response and for taking the time to comment. I think a lot of authors and writers do not get the credit they deserve — in fact, this is not exclusive to them, but applies to most people who work hard and/or create content for others to enjoy or benefit from. I am grateful to hear you will be stopping by again and feel free to comment anytime. I’m always interested in what my readers have to say, whether good or bad, because we always have something to learn from one another. xx KHC

  5. I think this is one of the most significant information for me. And i’m glad reading your article. But should remark on some general things, The web site style is perfect, the articles is really excellent : D. Good job, cheers

  6. Simply wanna admit that this is extremely helpful, Thanks for taking your time to write this.

  7. You should participate in a contest for the most effective blogs on the web. I’ll advocate this web site!

    • “It’s an honor just to be nominated,” thank you! That would be pretty cool if my blog was taken into consideration for a competition but I’ve never thought to submit it for anything. Honestly, I write for my readers and post content because I enjoy the process. Also, I learn A LOT. Competition has never occurred to me before, neither has the desire to be competitive in the blog-o-sphere, nor has this motivation influenced the content I post. In fact, I was totally shocked when one of my posts ended up featured on the WordPress Fresh Page as Number One awhile back. I guess if my blog gets nominated, I’d be thrilled but again, it’s not why it’s here. It’s here for you to enjoy and I hope you’ll continue reading, sharing your thoughts, as I love hearing from readers. Is there anything in particular that you found effective? Please let me know xx KHC

  11. Excellent information here. This interesting post made me smile. Maybe if you throw in a couple of pics it will make the whole thing more interesting.

    • You know, this is interesting — I must admit I WOULD upload more images into my posts, but I have yet to master the WordPress platform so the images actually appear in the post properly. A lot of times they come up all funky and distort the text layout. Silly, perhaps, but I am kind of OCD about the final layout and if an image is the primary factor disrupting the piece, I’ll remove it! However, if you check out my Tumblr blog, ( ) you’ll find more pics there! Glad to hear I made you smile and thank you for your comment xx KHC
